Sleep through the night, without the mask.

Loud snoring, gasping, waking up exhausted? Dr. Jeffrey Doneskey helps Seattle adults with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea breathe and sleep better with a custom, FDA-cleared oral appliance he designed himself.

Better sleep starts here

Seattle's answer for people who can't stand CPAP.

Sleep apnea often goes undiagnosed. People blame their exhaustion on work, age or stress, while their partner lies awake listening to them snore and stop breathing.

Dr. Doneskey has more than 30 years of clinical experience, is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and invented the SilentPartner™ oral appliance. For many patients with snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, it's a quiet, comfortable alternative to the CPAP mask.

How it works

Why you stop breathing, and how we fix it.

When you fall asleep, the muscles in your throat and mouth relax. In obstructive sleep apnea, your tongue and soft tissue fall back and block the airway. The SilentPartner™ gently holds your lower jaw forward, which keeps the airway open all night.

Untreated: the tongue collapses into the airway, air stops, oxygen drops and you partially wake up.
Treated: the jaw rests slightly forward, the tongue stays clear, and air flows quietly.

Signs & health risks

More than snoring. More than being tired.

Every pause in breathing drops your oxygen and fragments your sleep. Over months and years, untreated sleep apnea is linked to serious health problems.

At-home sleep testing

Get tested in your own bed.

No overnight stay in a sleep lab. Dr. Doneskey's office offers home sleep testing with WatchPAT, a small wearable device that records your sleep time and sleep stages without an abdominal belt or nasal monitor.

1

Consultation

We talk through your sleep, snoring and health, and examine your mouth, jaw and airway.

2

Sleep at home

Take the WatchPAT home and wear it for one night. It tracks light, deep and REM sleep.

3

Your results

A sleep specialist interprets the study and confirms whether you have sleep apnea, how severe it is, or whether a full lab study is needed.

4

Your custom plan

If an oral appliance is right for you, your SilentPartner™ is custom-made and adjusted until you're sleeping well.

Your partner is losing sleep too.

Snoring and breathing pauses disrupt the sleep of everyone nearby. If your partner has noticed you snore loudly, stop breathing or gasp at night, that's worth a conversation, and worth an evaluation.

Questions

Sleep apnea, answered.

Still have questions? Call (425) 646-6409.

What is obstructive sleep apnea?

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common form of sleep apnea. During sleep, the muscles of the throat and mouth relax and partially or fully block the airway, causing breathing pauses that can repeat many times a night.

Is there an alternative to CPAP?

Yes. For snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, a custom oral appliance like the FDA-cleared SilentPartner™ keeps your airway open by gently moving your jaw forward. It's quiet, portable and requires no mask. CPAP remains the standard for many patients with moderate to severe sleep apnea, and Dr. Doneskey will help you understand which is right for you.

How do I get tested for sleep apnea?

The office offers at-home sleep testing with WatchPAT, a small wearable device that records your sleep time and sleep stages while you sleep in your own bed. A sleep specialist interprets the results, and the study shows whether a full lab study is needed.

Can you treat snoring if I don't have sleep apnea?

Yes. The SilentPartner™ can also be used to reduce snoring even without sleep apnea, once an evaluation confirms it's appropriate for you.

Does insurance cover an oral appliance?

Many insurers cover all or part of an oral appliance, though some don't. Check with your provider before your consultation, or ask the team to contact your insurer for you.
